Georgia Tech has become the talk of college basketball over the past few weeks and the Yellow Jackets are all of a sudden becoming a potential at-large team standing 13-8 overall and 5-4 in the ACC. Georgia Tech has been racking up some strong resume building wins as of late beating teams like North Carolina, Florida State, and Notre Dame in the ACC. Georgia Tech also handled Clemson at home earlier in conference play beating Clemson by a final of 75-63. The Yellow Jackets play off of their strong defense as Georgia Tech ranks 57th in the nation in points allowed compared to 300th in scoring average.
The Clemson Tigers haven’t been having the kind of success they were hoping for this season as the Tigers have fallen into the basement of the ACC standing 12-8 overall and 2-6 in conference. Clemson was finally able to break out of their 6 game losing streak in their last outing getting past the nose diving Pitt Panthers on the road by a final of 67-60. The Tigers have fallen in three straight at home and Clemson figures to get another challenge today from the red hot Yellow Jackets. The Tigers are another squad that typically likes to lean on their defense, but this group has been a bit more balanced this season standing 110th in the nation in points allowed and 132nd in scoring average.
It’s hard to overlook the kind of success Georgia Tech has been having in the ACC and the Yellow Jackets bring a lot of momentum into this rematch against Clemson. The Tigers are desperate for wins as they try and get back on the safer side of the bubble and Clemson can still lean on the fact that they had some great results during the nonconference. We like Georgia Tech to continue to play well today and in what should be a lower scoring game we like the road team with the points.
