Illinois Chicago has been fading back in the wrong direction losing in three straight to drop to 11-11 overall and 4-5 in conference. UIC was at least a bit more competitive in their last outing falling short against Wright State at home by a final of 86-88 and this defeat was coming on the heels of back to back blowout losses against Valpo and Northern Kentucky. Illinois Chicago isn’t quite the same threat without Dixson on the court as the big man was averaging an impressive 20.3 points per game for the Flames. UIC is generally a group that likes to play with some pace ranking 108th in the nation in scoring average compared to 231st in total defense.
The Green Bay Phoenix current sit 1.5 games back of Valpo in the Horizon taking sole possession of 2nd place standing 13-9 overall and 7-3 in conference. After coming off a great win on the road against Oakland, Green Bay was surprisingly unable to follow things up with a win in their last outing against Detroit, but the Phoenix will get their chance to bounce back today coming back to their home court. In their last home game Green Bay came through for us getting the win against Cleveland State by a final of 83-73. Green Bay has some of the better depth in the Horizon with 10 players getting consistent minutes and 6 guys averaging at least 8 points per game.
Illinois Chicago has been heading in the wrong direction as of late and things don’t get any easier for the Flames today on the road against one of the top teams in the conference. Green Bay will unlikely unseat Valpo atop the Horizon for the regular season title, but we like the Phoenix to pull away today at home as they go on to win and cover the spread.
