Utah played tremendous ball behind their home court advantage the other day blowing past LSU by a final of 95-71. Utah has grabbed wins over UC Davis and LSU thus far in the NIT and things will get tougher for the Utes in their third round matchup on the road against the Gaels. Utah was able to push their way into the upper tier of the Pac 12 this season standing 21-11 overall and 11-7 in conference. On the year Utah ranks 166th in the nation in scoring and 73rd in total defense. Saint Mary’s was one of the major snubs to the NCAA tournament as the Gaels were ranked in the top 25 for the majority of the regular season, even heading into Selection Sunday. We faded Saint Mary’s in their last outing at home against Washington, and although the Gaels came through straight up, Saint Mary’s came up well short of the cover in their 85-81 win. Saint Mary’s was able to come through against a Pas 12 opponent in their last outing, but this should be a tougher test going against Utah who’s had more success than the Huskies this season. We like Utah to stay competitive as they go on to cover the spread.
