There’s no denying Florida State had the talent to make this kind of run in the NCAA tournament, but FSU teams under head coach Hamilton have notoriously underperformed when the lights get brightest. We even saw this from the Noles during the regular season with FSU middling in the ACC standing 22-11 overall and 9-9 in conference. Florida State has impressed thus far taking things up a notch defensively in their 67-54 win over Missouri followed by 75-70 win over Xavier.
Gonzaga hasn’t been overly impressive in the NCAA tournament thus far, but the Bulldogs have been able to find a way to get past the likes of UNCG and Ohio State. This Gonzaga isn’t the same level of team that went to the championship game a season ago, but with the bracket shaping up like it has, the Bulldogs have a good shot at getting back to the Final Four. The Bulldogs showed some of their best play down the stretch run of the season and this group has been solid on both ends of the court all year ranking 10th in the nation in scoring and 50th in total defense.
If Florida State continues to put in the work on the defensive end like we’ve seen from the Seminoles thus far in the tournament, then FSU has a great shot at potentially picking up another upset. We like Florida State to keep things competitive as they go on to cover this moderate spread.
