The Memphis Tigers have had themselves yet another impressive season building off the strength of their offense standing 10-1 overall and 7-1 in conference. Memphis’ only loss on the year came against UCF and it was an embarrassing result for the Tigers as they were completely outmatched by the Knights losing in Orlando by a final of 13-40. Memphis has been one of the most dangerous offensive units in the nation ranking 9th in all of the FBS in passing, 32nd in rushing, and 3rd in scoring average. Defense has been an issue for the Tigers however as this group ranks 88th in points allowed giving up nearly 31 points per contest on average.
We were higher than most on UCF coming into the year and the Knights even surpassed our high expectations standing 11-0 overall and 8-0 in conference. It’s a shame UCF won’t get any consideration for the college playoff given their strength of schedule, but the Knights have the roster and coaching to compete at a high level against an team in the nation. Central Florida has been consistently dominant on both sides of the ball standing 1st in the nation in scoring average and 33rd in total defense. QB McKenzie Milton has stepped up leading the Knights passing for 3301 yards and 30 TDs.
We feel the big difference maker for UCF in their rematch against Memphis will be on the defensive side of the ball. UCF was pretty much the only team that was able to slow down the Memphis offense this year and we like for the Knights to finish the job as they go on to win and cover this moderate spread.
