The Washington Redskins, since RG3’s breakout rookie season, have pretty much been a mess as their coaching situation has not been very consistent or good for that matter and Griffin has struggled to regain his form after his major knee injury.
Preview: The Redskins need two main people to show improvement this season, Robert Griffin III and Jay Gruden. RG3 has had a tough time since suffering his season ending knee injury in his rookie season but now enough time has passed that he should certainly be fully healthy and capable of making the types of plays that so dazzled us when he was at Baylor and when he first came into the league. Jay Gruden, in my opinion has not done a great job so far as the Redskins head coach making some less than solid choices as far as his handling of RG3 and the entire Washington QB situation and needs to do more with the offense to get them heading in the right direction including opening up the playbook to give RG3 more opportunities to run and to throw the ball down the field. I expect Pierre Garcon to have a bounce back season and for DeSean Jackson to constantly provide that late game threat.
Defensively it will be very interesting to see where Washington ranks this season as they did not have a great season last year and are going to need to do much better if this team is going to show dramatic improvement this season. Last season the Redskins gave up the third most points in the league so new defensive coordinator, Joe Barry, has his work cut out for him. Chris Culliver could end up being a key pickup for this unit as this former San Francisco DB could really help this lack luster secondary get things headed in the right direction.
Projected Record: 7-9
