The Arizona Cardinals were one of the league’s most surprising teams last season as they rode one of the best defenses in the game to an 11-5 record despite having Carson Palmer for only six games and having to rely backup QBs for the majority of the season.
Preview: Offensively this season the Cardinals look to be leaps and bounds better than last year with a healthy Carson Palmer and three big time WRs for him to throw to this could be a team that can really score some points. The addition of David Johnson could be pretty nice for this Cardinals team as the third round draft pick gives them a back with superior size to Andre Ellington and could be a go to option for those third and short plays or goal line dives. Overall the key for this offense is going to be Palmer and his ability to stay healthy because as long as he is in there delivering the ball to Larry Fitzgerald, Michael Floyd and the rest this offense is going to be just fine. Floyd however is going to miss the next 3-4 weeks as he recovers from surgery to repair the three fingers he dislocated on his left hand on Wednesday.
Defensively the Cardinals were one of the best teams in the league last season and have a brought back the vast majority of a unit that was able to largely carry this team even when they had basically zero offense. The Cardinals secondary should be one of the best in the game this season once again due in part to Patrick Peterson and Tyrann Mathieu who are impact players capable of changing the game on any possession.
Projected Record: 11-5
